In 1799, colonial times in Java, the Dutch Eastern Governor set up the Artillerie Constructie Winkel Workshop, in Surabaya, East Java. The company continued to manufacture, weapons, including artillery, and canons, until 1942 when the Japanese took over, later it merged with other companies. Early foundries mark the outer side of a bell. (limited research) (In questions from client – there were more than 30 bell foundries prior to the Civil war, after the Civil War, most foundries were found West of New York and Boston.)
